There is a perception out there that Colorado is a flashy program that isn’t afraid to talk a little trash. However, Deion Sanders disagreed with that notion during the Colorado Football Coaches Show on Thursday.

Instead, Sanders argued that Buffaloes players aren’t mouthy people at all.

“People talk about our kids’ talk. What do they say? When did you ever hear our kids talking about another opponent?” Deion Sanders questioned. “When did you ever see our kids bragging and boasting about what they did? Yeah, everybody dances in the locker room and have a good time after the victory. That’s just normal. But we’re not mouthy people. We don’t never talk about what we’re gonna do.”

Sanders added that his players may respond to what players from other teams say. But he insists Colorado players will not start a war of words.

They may respond if players from another team start talking trash, but Sanders says his guys aren’t mouthy.

“We know who we are. We’re not trying to be something we’re not. Others are,” Deion Sanders said. “And others understand that if they take shots at us or they engage with us, they get light.

“Often times, you don’t want that kind of light. But often times, you don’t want that kind of light because they don’t understand that same light show your blemishes. So, that’s what is happening but we prepare our kids for it.”

In addition to discussing Colorado players not being mouthy, Deion Sanders also spoke about why Travis Hunter should be a top two pick in the NFL Draft during his coaches show on Thursday.

“Travis did this last year, so what’s the difference?” Sanders said. “If you track it last year, we were darn near in the same place. That’s what I’m saying, he did it last year. I just wonder how, all of a sudden, now you recognizing what we’ve said?

“He should be No. 1 or 2 in the draft. I said that a while ago. Nobody wanted to believe it because it was me.”

In his most recent game against Colorado State, Travis Hunter managed to record a season-high 13 catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, he racked up five tackles and picked off a pass, returning it for 38 yards.

That’s a productive day’s work for a two-way star, one who is playing as many snaps as anyone else in the country.

Of course, Sanders isn’t the only one singing his praises.

Travis Hunter was recently ranked as the top overall player in the country in the On3 Impact rankings. Wrote On3 at the time:
