Davante Adams trade rumors: Adam Schefter gives updated timeline, teams to watch

Davante Adams trade rumors: Adam Schefter gives updated timeline, teams to watch

The Davante Adams trade rumors heated up Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The NFL insider gave an updated timeline for a trade and teams to watch in the sweepstakes.

Adams is currently out with a hamstring injury, so there could be an impetus to trade him and no longer worry about an injured star WR. As Schefter pointed out, the New York Jets are seemingly the favorite to land Adams, if there even is a trade.

He gave the latest on SportsCenter Sunday.

“I think most people around the league believe that Davante Adams is going to be traded from the Las Vegas Raiders,” Schefter said. “The question is, where and when? Everybody is paying attention to the New York Jets for a few different reasons. First of all, he’d like to play in New York. The Jets have two 3rd round picks in 2025 and two 6th round picks.

“They have the ammunition, and they also have a wide receiver in Mike Williams that the Raiders General Manager, Tom Telesco, drafted with the Chargers and then signed to a contract extension with the Chargers. He might be somebody that Tom Telesco would want again, especially if you’re trading away a wide receiver.”

The reason for the pause is Adams’ hamstring injury, per Schefter. While the Raiders are open to moving him, and quickly to sort it out, his recovery is paramount.

“But everybody hit pause this week to see how this week would play out,” Schefter said. “Davante Adams is still nursing a hamstring injury, still getting over that, but Mark Davis is paying him close to a million dollars a week not to play for a player that he knows he is going to be trading.

“And so most people believe that this is going to happen, potentially even this week, and the Jets are square in the mix, along with the New Orleans Saints and others … the Bills, Steelers, Ravens, all are monitoring the situation, and you never know if there’s another team.”

Adams to the Jets seems like the logical destination, reuniting him with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The two were one of the most deadly QB-WR combos in the NFL while playing for the Green Bay Packers.

Adams could also reunite with Derek Carr in New Orleans, as Schefter reported. The two played briefly together in Las Vegas after playing together in college at Fresno State.
