Dan Orlovsky suggests LA Rams make a call for potential trade of Bryce Young

Dan Orlovsky suggests LA Rams make a call for potential trade of Bryce Young

Following Bryce Young’s benching with the Carolina Panthers, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky suggested the Los Angeles Rams make a call for a potential trade.

With Matthew Stafford still manning the starting QB role, Young could come in, reset and learn as a backup for a season or two. In Year 2, Young struggled again.

The former No. 1 overall pick out of Alabama doesn’t seem to have a future in Carolina, so it might be time for a chance, ASAP.

“No, I think Bryce is done in Carolina,” Orlovsky said on The Pat McAfee Show. “And I would encourage them, implore them, (to) just trade him. You’re not making this move, unless you have, one, already decided as a group, as an organization ‘Hey, we’re moving on,’ or you’re gonna lose your locker room if you keep playing him. I think he’s done in Carolina, I’ve seen it floated around, you know, the Dolphins. If I were the Los Angeles Rams, I would probably make a call.”

In two games this year, Young has 245 yards, zero touchdowns, three interceptions and a 55.4% completion percentage. Last year as a rookie, he threw for 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 59.8% completion percentage.

“This is kind of why teams go through their quarterback evaluations in the draft process, even though they’re unlikely to be drafting one where those guys are expected to be drafted,” Orlovsky said. “Because the Rams might have absolutely loved Bryce Young coming out of the draft last year, and so this might be a situation now, Matthew’s older, their team has been absolutely destroyed by injuries, their perspective on the season is kind of very different right now.”

Orlovsky even mentioned other quarterbacks in Carolina, and other places, before Young that found success elsewhere.

“So I just don’t think in Carolina, you know, we’ve seen Baker (Mayfield), we’ve seen Geno (Smith), we’ve seen Sam Darnold now a little bit, we’ve seen Jared Goff, I guess a little bit,” Orlovsky said. “I just don’t think it gets remade in Carolina.”
