Dallas Cowboys injury report: Latest on CeeDee Lamb, Zack Martin, Trevon Diggs

Dallas Cowboys injury report: Latest on CeeDee Lamb, Zack Martin, Trevon Diggs

Week 3 is an important one for the Dallas Cowboys, needing to respond well after a blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints. Baltimore is coming to AT&T Stadium for a Sunday afternoon showdown, the second Cowboys home game in a row.

As per usual in the NFL, an injury report has been released on Wednesday evening. But some big names have popped up for Dallas — highlighted by CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs. Neither of them practiced due to their respective ankle and foot injuries.

Zack Martin is also listed after being slow to get up last week after a play against New Orleans. However, the All-Pro right guard is expected to be a full-go on Thursday.

Diggs worked his way back from a major injury after suffering a torn ACL last season. While a DNP is never good news, it’s thankfully not related to the knee. Thursday’s report should clarify a lot more about the defensive back’s status for the game.

Similar can be said about Lamb, dealing with an ankle injury. He is just two games into a historic contract signed before the opener against the Cleveland Browns.

Mazi Smith leaves Dallas Cowboys practice with athletic trainer

Wednesday has not been good for Dallas Cowboys defensive tackles. Head coach Mike McCarthy announced Jordan Phillips would be put on Injured Reserve after just two weeks, meaning he will miss at least the next four games. Not too long after, once on the practice field, an injury occurred to Mazi Smith.

No specifics regarding the injury are known at the time of publishing. Smith was seen walking off with the Cowboys’ head athletic trainer. Not what Dallas needed just a few days before the Week 3 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

“Cowboys DT Mazi Smith is leaving practice with head athletic trainer Dr. Jim Maurer,” Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram said via X. “This comes after the Cowboys had to put fellow defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on the injured reserve list this morning with a wrist injury.”

Smith is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys and was entering a critical year in his development. Underwhelming as a rookie, Smith was expected to have a bigger role under defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. But two games have resulted in just 56 snaps played and zero statistics recorded.
