Dale Earnhardt widow Teresa plans to rezone her NC farm into industrial park
According to a rezoning application, Dale Earnhardt’s widow Teresa Earnhardt plans to change 399 acres of her property into an industrial park. What used to be a sprawling farm is now a rural property in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Joe Marusak of The News & Observer reported on the change. The new industrial park is set to be named Moorseville Technology Park. It will be off of N.C. 3, Dale Earnhardt Highway.
The report from Marusak states that the property being rezoned is 2.5 miles from Dale Earnhardt Inc. where the NASCAR icon operated his own race team for many years.
At an upcoming Mooresville Planning Board meeting, Teresa Earnhardt is expected to formally request the change. That meeting is scheduled for October 22 with her request listed on the meeting agenda.
Currently, the 399 acres belong to Earnhardt Farms LLC with Teresa operating as the only managing member. Earnhardt has to make the request to the Planning Board who will then make a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners before anything is finalized.
Many NASCAR fans have heard stories of Dale Earnhardt hunting and fishing and farming on his vast property. Always an outdoorsman, it was a deep part of his identity on the track and off of it. So, this news may come as a surprise.
However, times are always changing.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. talks about concussions
In both NASCAR and the NFL, concussions are an unfortunate reality. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Luke Kuechly can both speak to that. So, they are two former athletes who have a bit of insight into the situation that Tua Tagovailoa is in at the moment.
Multiple times in the last two seasons, Tagovailoa has taken hard hits on the field. Hits that left him stiff on the field. At times, exhibiting some of the worst symptoms of a concussion injury.
It’s a topic that requires nuance.
“I find myself hesitant to even comment on Tua’s situation because it’s not my situation,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. explained on his Dale Jr. Download podcast.
So, Dale Earnhardt Jr. does not take this topic lightly. However, at times as fans, it is easy to forget how dangerous the sport of football truly is. The same goes for NASCAR.
“People like myself you know that are fans that are watching from the sideline often maybe forget just how protected the players are,” Dale Jr. continued. “Nobody in his world and the Miami Dolphins and the NFL, want to see him risk injury unnecessarily.”
