Dak Prescott reacts to Panthers benching Bryce Young: ‘Not a one man problem’

Many people were surprised when the Carolina Panthers decided to bench second year quarterback Bryce Young. But Young has looked awful in his first two games. And it’s clear that head coach Dave Canales wanted to move on. Andy Dalton is now the starter in Carolina. Reporters on Friday asked Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott about Young being benched and he was empathetic with the situation.

Here’s the transcribed version of the interview below.

“But understanding that you write your story. He’s writing his story. As a young player, when I say it’s the ultimate team game. We’re sometimes as good as the guys blocking for us and making catches as well. And to be frank, calling the plays. I haven’t watched any of their plays or games other than I guess the first one, breaking down the Saints really,” Prescott explained.

Like I said, it’s not a one-man problem. And so for him, it’s about understanding that control what you can control. Continue to prepare. Continue to study hard. And yeah, keep your head up. He’s a young player. I mean, I’ve seen tons of guys switch systems. Switch coaches, whatever it may be. And really start to shine. Yeah, it’s about really just knowing that he’s gotten to this point by playing a lot of great ball in his career. That didn’t go away overnight. So, stay true to him,” Prescott finished.
