Dak Prescott reacts to Cowboys rough loss vs. Saints

Dak Prescott reacts to Cowboys rough loss vs. Saints

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott had an outing to forget in Week 2 Sunday, throttled to the tune of 44-19 by the New Orleans Saints.

Dallas was flat from the beginning, allowing New Orleans to get into the end zone on each of its first six offensive possessions. While not the outcome the Cowboys wanted, Prescott isn’t worried about the loss lingering to next week.

“We’re gonna learn from it. That was a good team,” Prescott said after the game, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Gotta give them credit. This is the NFL. … It’s about trusting the process and responding. I know we have the guys to do that. Honestly excited to get back to work and turn this page.”

With the Cowboys’ defense proving not to provide much resistance, the onus was on the offense to keep them in the game. But with New Orleans jumping out to an early 21-6 lead, Dallas was rendered one dimensional on offense.

Cowboys embarrassed by Saints in home opener

Prescott completed 27-of-39 passes for 293 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. On the ground, Dallas mustered up just 68 yards on 21 carries.

The Cowboys surrendered 35 first half points, the most they’ve given up in a first half in franchise history. Star linebacker Micah Parsons said the Saints simply “outplayed” the Cowboys.

“To me, it had nothing to do with the scheme,” Parsons said. “I thought [Mike Zimmer] called a pretty good game. … At the end of the day, I just believe we got outplayed. Whoever played on that field, everyone didn’t play to 100%. That’s just me being accountable and saying the truth. We all got to play better.”
