Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn gave offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury a game ball after the team’s 42-14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. It was a special moment for Kingsbury who was the Cardinals head coach from 2019 to 2022.

“There will be a number of game balls that will be issued out. But there’s one motherf****r that ain’t leaving this f*****g city without one. Kliff!” Quinn said as the players cheered loudly for him.

As Kingsbury got the game ball he told his players, “On to the motherf*****g next!” Kingsbury joined the Cardinals after having a successful run as the Texas Tech head coach from 2013 to 2018. His time in Arizona was not fun, posting a 28-37 record with one winning season in four years. Kingsbury led the Cardinals to the playoffs in 2021, but the team lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round.

Kingsbury was fired after the 2022 season and joined the USC Trojans as an offensive analyst in April 2023. He worked with quarterback Caleb Williams who was selected by the Chicago Bears No. 1 overall in this year’s draft. In February, the Commanders hired Kingsbury to be their offensive coordinator.

Shortly after being hired, Kingsbury talked about how his relationship with Quinn would impact his playcalling this season. “Yeah, as much as he, he wants to be, you know, he’s the head coach, and so however he wants to do it, we’re gonna do it that way,” Kingsbury said, per Sports Illustrated. “I understand that he understands that, and so as much input as we can get from him, the better. I mean, he’s the guy who can tell us, ‘Hey, this is what the defense is trying to do, see it from a different point of view than us, and so I’m excited to work with him from that angle, and you know, see what we’re gonna take this.”
