Anthony Richardson injury update: Colts QB to locker room, questionable to return vs. Steelers
Anthony Richardson is questionable to return to the game after the Colts QB suffered a hip injury against the Steelers.
The former first round pick out of Florida was replaced by Joe Flacco in the game. The latter immediately came in and threw a touchdown.
The Colts led the Steelers 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. Richardson exited the game after going three-of-four passing for 71 yards and three carries for 26 yards.
Coming into the game, Richardson had 583 yards, three touchdowns, six interceptions, a 49.3% completion percentage, 253 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.
However, Colts fans got a great sign with Richardson returning to the sideline, as you can see in the video below.

Despite that, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported Richardson would be done for the game, despite coming back to the sideline.
Richardson is coming off of a season-ending AC joint sprain that limited him to four games in 2023. He had scored seven total touchdowns in those games, including three rushing. In the four games he played during his rookie season, the Florida product finished with 577 yards passing with three touchdowns compared to one interception.
Indianapolis spent the No. 4 overall pick to land Richardson in the 2023 NFL Draft, so it is clear they see him as a potential franchise piece moving forward. He’s been impressive in his limited sample size thus far but will need to prove he can consistently put number numbers while leading his team to victory.
Richardson could take a lot of hits due to his mobility. But it’s a risk he and head coach Shane Steichen are willing to take.
“People ask this, too, a lot,” Steichen said during training camp. “It’s just like ‘Hey, are you gonna limit the run game?’ And I kind of think, like, shoot, are you gonna limit Steph Curry from shooting three-pointers? Well, that’s one of Anthony’s strengths. So, we’re not gonna get away from that. That’s what he does well.”
