9 Bulldogs on official injury report for State’s SEC opener against Florida

9 Bulldogs on official injury report for State’s SEC opener against Florida

Mississippi State’s first official injury report was released Wednesday evening by the SEC and a total of nine Bulldogs are listed. Beginning this year, schools are required to submit an official injury report for conference games only.

For the Bulldogs, injuries continue to be an issue on the defensive side of the ball and that trend remains for Saturday’s SEC opener against Florida. Defensively, cornerback Tre Wright and defensive lineman Kalvin Dinkins are listed as ‘out’ and both have only played in one game this season.

While not injured, safety Tyler Woodard has to sit out the first half of the Florida game due to receiving a targeting call in the second half of last weekend’s game against Toledo.

Also defensively, cornerback DeAgo Brumfield, defensive lineman Kedrick Bingley-Jones and defensive back Christopher Keys are listed as ‘questionable’. Bingley-Jones was injured early in the Toledo game last Saturday and didn’t return the rest of the game. Brumfield, a former Memphis transfer, has yet to play this season.

Also on defense, safety Corey Ellington is listed as ‘probable’, which could be good news this season. Ellington, a returning starter, was injured late in training camp and has yet to play this season.

Kickoff specialist Marlon Hauck is also listed as ‘questionable’ while running back Xavier Gayten is listed as ‘probable’. Gayten is the lone offensive player on the injury list for State’s season opener.

The official injury report will continue to be updated later in the week and all the way up to 90 minutes before Saturday’s 11 a.m. kickoff against Florida at Davis Wade Stadium.
