4-star athlete Antavious Richardson flips commitment from USF to Notre Dame

Greenville (Ga.) four-star athlete Antavious Richardson has flipped his commitment from USF to Notre Dame, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Richardson had been committed to the Bulls since June, when he chose them over Mississippi State, Georgia State and others. But after an offer from the Fighting Irish at the end of August and an official visit last month, the momentum shifted toward Notre Dame.

“I enjoyed the atmosphere and the culture — that was the most amazing part about it,” Richardson told Blue & Gold about his official visit. “When you go places, you don’t always meet people who are that nice and kind — you don’t always get that atmosphere and culture. That’s something Notre Dame has that separates itself from a lot of schools. The coaches, players and everyone were nice the whole time. They really want you to feel a part of the team.

… The people there want you to get your degree and succeed in life. The culture — that’s a big thing.”

Richardson originally committed to Georgia State in April, but he subsequently picked up offers from Memphis, USF, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. He flipped his pledge from the in-state school to the the Bulls in late June. But now, he’ll be a part of the Irish’s No. 12 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder is the No. 351 overall prospect and No. 10 athlete in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3, however, is much higher on him than the three other services. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 292 overall prospect.

Richardson plays all over the field for his high school team, primarily running the offense at quarterback and playing in the secondary. The Fighting Irish, though, project him as a wide receiver.
