Antione West, a three-star shooting guard in the 2025 class, has committed to Purdue and head coach Matt Painter, he told On3.

The 6-foot-3 senior out of Toledo (OH) Whitmer High School chose the Boilermakers over a top group of Ohio State, Dayton, and Nebraska.

West is the No. 176 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 47 shooting guard prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

West on his commitment to Purdue

Antoine West discussed his decision with On3.

“I chose Purdue because to me it just felt most like home when I was there. Not only was it a school I always wanted to go to growing up, but they expressed the same interest I had towards them with me. My skill set and size is a good fit and I can really help them moving forward.”

What led to his trust in coach Painter and the coaching staff?

“What really got me to trust them was definitely their honesty and how down-to-earth they were. I’ve had a lot of long conversations with multiple people on their staff including coach Painter and over time that consistency since my sophomore year really builds trust.”

In his own words, what type of player is Purdue getting in Antoine West?

“I’d describe my game as a versatile lead guard. I can score with and without the ball, I can create for my teammates. I have good size to be able to defend multiple positions, and rebound to push breaks. I don’t think there is too many things I can’t do on the court and I’m only going to get better.”

He has a message for Purdue fans.

“I want to let Boiler Nation know they are getting a player who loves this game and I’m dedicated to give them the best me everyday I put on that jersey. Boiler Up.”
