2026 Five-Star Plus+ OT Immanuel Iheanacho visiting Maryland this weekend

2026 Five-Star Plus+ OT Immanuel Iheanacho visiting Maryland this weekend

Maryland is getting one of the nation’s top junior prospects on campus as it hosts USC on Saturday afternoon.

A visit to Tennessee was in the cards for Baltimore Georgetown Prep Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, but he’ll instead stay in-state and head to College Park, according to On3’s Chad Simmons.

It won’t be easy for head coach Mike Locksley and the Terrapins to land Iheanacho’s pledge, but they’ve had him on campus more than any other program to this point. They’ll get another shot to impress this weekend as national powerhouses are also in the mix for the 6-foot-6.5, 350-pounder.

Around 30 Power Four programs have offered Iheanacho, including many of the nation’s best. Penn State is another local school that’s had him on campus plenty, while the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee and Texas have all looked to make a big impression early on.

“I will start taking official visits in the spring, then finish in the summer and I should be ready to commit before my senior year,” Iheanacho told Simmons back in August. “I am mentally preparing for the process and all that comes with it right now, so I will get out to see some games this season to help me find the right schools.”

Iheanacho is the No. 3 overall prospect and No. 2 OT in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in Maryland.

The Terps already have three commitments in their 2026 class: Baltimore St. Frances Academy three-star tight end Damon Hall, Jacksonville Mandarin three-star EDGE Brian Harris and St. Frances Academy cornerback Khmari Bing.

Immanuel Iheanacho Scouting Summary

On3 writes this of Iheanacho:

“We came away from this initial ranking process feeling that Iheanacho had the best sophomore film among the top offensive tackles. Iheanacho blends excellent, ready-made size with advanced flexibility, power and functional movement skills. He plays with outstanding pad level, using his bend and understanding of leverage to get underneath the pads of defenders. Iheanacho fires off the ball and moves defenders at will once engaged. He’s a light footed mover, both as a run blocker and in pass protection, drawing on his basketball background. The movement skills look to be translatable as a pass protector, as he plays with balance and control. We also see Iheanacho flash his athleticism as a disruptive defensive lineman.”
