2026 4-star WR Donovan Murph reclassifies to 2025

2026 4-star WR Donovan Murph reclassifies to 2025

Irmo (S.C.) wide receiver Donovan Murph is one of the top prospects in the Palmetto State and the four-star has decided to reclassify from 2026 to 2025.

“This has always been in my mind,” Murph told On3. “Malachi Toney did it this year. Ryan Williams did it last year. I knew I had the opportunity and the ability to do it, so I put the work in and will graduate next spring.”

This decision wasn’t made overnight by Murph. It has been something he has prayed about and discussed with his family for about two months. He made the decision last week.

“I thought really hard about it. I have talked to some schools about it and my parents put the decision on me. This was my decision and I have decided to get to college early, play as a 17 year old in college and try to reach my goals sooner.”

Murph’s recruitment moves up a year

With Murph reclassifying, that really accelerates his recruitment. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound playmaker has taken in games this season at Alabama, Clemson, North Carolina, Ohio State and South Carolina. He will visit Tennessee and Texas A&M for games in October.

He has a plan in place.

“I want to narrow my list down more first, then schedule official visits and then make my decision,” Murph said. “Some schools knew about me reclassifying, so I want to see who really wants me as a 2025 recruit. I will learn soon the schools that stay with me really believe in my talent.”

Schools like Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech have been in regular contact with Murph. One of those schools could be the one he signs with this cycle.

“Official visits will be important to me. They will be really big. It is not just about football. The place is big for me too. It is where I will be for 3-4 years of business. The official visits will give me an understanding of the school and the people.”
