Tennessee equipment truck involved in accident on road back to Knoxville
On the heels of an important win over Oklahoma, the Tennessee football team ran into trouble after the game when the equipment truck hit a snag on the road back to Knoxville.
According to James Bryant of KATV in Arkansas, the Tennessee equipment truck was in an accident on I-40 East in North Little Rock. The vehicle appears to be missing its front right tire, while some of the other tires on the hauler appear to be shredded.

The equipment truck mishap was really the lone hiccup for Tennessee on the trip to Oklahoma, which went about as well as anyone in Vol Nation could have hoped for. Tennessee secured a 25-15 win that probably wasn’t quite as close as the score indicated, with 12 of Oklahoma’s points coming in the fourth quarter.
The performance was impressive enough that one ESPN analyst believes Tennessee thoroughly looks the part of a College Football Playoff team.
Paul Finebaum raves about Tennessee
The equipment truck issue would be a significantly bigger bummer for Tennessee if the weekend hadn’t gone as swimmingly as it did. But by Sunday morning, everyone was singing the Vols’ praises.
Including ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum.
“They have been woeful on the road,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter. “And they finally ended that last night. Now let’s be frank here, Oklahoma is not the Oklahoma of Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray and the good old days. This is more of a pedestrian unit, and Jackson Arnold certainly struggled.
“But Tennessee’s got everything going and quite frankly this looks like easily a playoff team, maybe a team that can play late into January.”
It was the defense that stood out in Saturday night’s contest, though quarterback Nico Iamaleava did a fine enough job leading the offense. Oklahoma, though, could not routinely move the ball.
The Sooners had just 222 total yards of offense in the contest and never truly made it a game. The win moved the Volunteers to 1-0 in SEC play and kicked off the league slate on a positive note.
