NFLPA issues statement regarding concussion protocol after controversial Josh Allen injury

NFLPA issues statement regarding concussion protocol after controversial Josh Allen injury

Many NFL fans were concerned when Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen slammed his head to the turf late in their loss to the Houston Texans. He was quickly evaluated for a concussion and went into the medical tent on the sidelines. But he was cleared after six minutes and six seconds and with the aid of smelling salts. Many people called for an investigation to see if proper concussion protocol was followed in that instance.

On Friday evening, there was a joint statement issued by the NFL and NFLPA stating that proper concussion protocol was followed in that game.

Joint NFL-NFLPA Statement after Josh Allen injury

“The NFL and NFLPA have reviewed the reports from the Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant and Booth Spotters and those reports confirm that the steps required by the concussion protocol were followed in the evaluation and clearance of Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen in last Saturday’s game,” the statement read.

“The protocol has been jointly developed and is jointly administered by the NFL and NFLPA. Under that program the parties jointly identify, retain, and train the Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultants and Booth Spotters.”
