Nebraska Volleyball rises to No. 2 after two top-5 sweeps

Nebraska Volleyball is back at No. 2 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.

The Huskers had two extremely impressive top-five wins to catapult them back to No. 2 after spending three weeks at No. 5.

NU swept then-ranked No. 2 Stanford at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Sept. 18. Nebraska took down Stanford for the first time at Devaney 25-17, 25-22, 25-14. The Cardinal dropped to No. 3 with their first loss of the season.

Nebraska traveled to Louisville, Ky. for the second time this season to face No. 4 Louisville. In front of a record crowd at the KFC Yum! Center, the Huskers defeated the Cardinals 25-16, 25-17, 25-20. Louisville, now 8-2, is now ranked No. 5.

NU beat five total ranked teams including three top-10 teams and two more top-15 teams.

Seven Big Ten Teams are ranked in the AVCA Top 25 for week five. Behind Nebraska, Penn State ( 4), Wisconsin (7), Purdue (10), Oregon (11), Minnesota (16) and USC (T-20).

Creighton, who beat No. 6 Purdue and No. 10 Kansas last week, rose three spots to No. 6.

The Huskers start the Big Ten Conference Schedule 10-1. They host UCLA on Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m. CT and No. 20 USC on Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. CT. Both matches will be on the Big Ten Network.
