Auburn vs. Georgia odds: Early point spread released, How to Watch

Auburn vs. Georgia odds: Early point spread released, How to Watch

Auburn and Georgia are set to rekindle the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry on Saturday, with the two programs set to meet between the hedges in Athens, Ga.

It may not be the most riveting contest, with Georgia clearly looking like one of the nation’s best teams and Auburn struggling mightily in Year 2 under coach Hugh Freeze.

According to lines listed by FanDuel, Georgia will open as a 23.5-point favorite over Auburn. The over/under points total for the contest has been set at 49.5 points.

That sets the expectation going into the game: The Bulldogs are a clear favorite and it would be a little surprising to see the Tigers make it a truly competitive contest. But that’s why they play the games.

Auburn got off to a 2-2 start to the season and saw significant question marks about its quarterback position overshadow the first quarter of the season.

After struggling mightily, Payton Thorne was benched in favor of Hank Brown. That didn’t last long, as Brown also struggled at the position and quickly ceded the starting spot back to Thorne.

The bottom line is that Auburn has found consistency hard to come by. And that makes it tough for coach Hugh Freeze to really get his offense cranked up in his second year in charge of the program. That’s the backdrop heading into this one.

On the other side, Georgia has plenty of answers across the board. Quarterback Carson Beck returned and has been quite good so far this season overall.

He’s had a lengthy list of weapons to target, mostly acquired this offseason via the NCAA transfer portal. Among them: running back Trevor Etienne, receivers London Humphreys and Colbie Young, and tight end Ben Yurosek.

For Georgia, improving the consistency of performance is key. But the Bulldogs operate at a high level, potentially even a playoff level. That should make Saturday’s clash with Auburn an interesting one.
