Weekend Worthy: Get an early glimpse of ‘Landman’ with Billy Bob Thornton
Happy Thursday,
Taylor Sheridan’s new series, “Landman,” won’t be released until Nov. 17, but Fort Worthians can catch a sneak peek at the Lone Star Film Festival.
Inspired by stories documented in Texas Monthly’s “Boomtown” podcast, the Paramount+ series stars Billy Bob Thornton as an oil company executive named Tommy Norris.
The show follows roughnecks and billionaires chasing the “modern day gold rush” of the oil industry and explores its influence on the environment, economy and geopolitical landscape.
A Nov. 3 screening of the first episode is already sold out, but there’s still time to secure your spot for a special conversation with Thornton 4:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall.
The event will include clips from the show. Your $45 ticket also includes beer, wine and select spirits.
With scenes filmed at the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth, Texas Christian University and other locations in and around Fort Worth, be sure to keep an eye out. Who knows? You might recognize some of the locals hired as extras.
Tickets are sure to sell out, so act fast.
