Where Alabama is ranked in the polls entering Week 9

Where Alabama is ranked in the polls entering Week 9

Alabama dropped its second game of the season on Saturday, falling to Tennessee 24-17. With the loss, the Crimson Tide fell to 5-2 on the year in Kalen DeBoer’s first season in Tuscaloosa, including a 2-2 mark in conference play.

Naturally, the loss tanked Alabama in the polls. The Crimson Tide was ranked No. 7 in both the AP and the Coaches Poll last week. Now entering Week 9, Alabama has fallen to No. 15 in the Coaches Poll. The AP Poll will be released later this afternoon.

The drop in rankings makes Alabama the 6th-ranked SEC team, trailing No. 2 Georgia, No. 6 Texas, No. 7 LSU, No. 8 Tennessee and No. 14 Texas A&M, while ahead of No. 17 Missouri, No. 18 Ole Miss, and No. 25 Vanderbilt.

Alabama has two ranked teams left on the schedule as of this week, as the Crimson Tide looks to win out to give itself a chance to make the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff.

Alabama will play No. 17 Missouri at home next week, and will travel to Baton Rouge to play No. 7 LSU.
