How to watch Northwestern vs. Iowa
Time: Saturday | 3:30 p.m. ET
Channel: BTN, FuboTV (streaming)
Location: Iowa City, IA — Kinnick Stadium
Iowa didn’t put its best foot forward this past weekend, falling 32-20 to Michigan State. In the loss, the Hawkeyes’ typically stellar defense failed to find stops, allowing the Spartans to rack up 468 total yards of offense.
Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara struggled to find a rhythm in the outing, only completing 11-of-his-23 pass attempts for 150 yards and a touchdown while also throwing an interception. Iowa’s lack of a pass threat is nothing new.
The team is averaging 136.9 passing yards per game this season, the 128th-least of 133 FBS teams. Michigan is the only Power Four team that averages less.
Iowa wasn’t the only team that had a subpar showing on Saturday. In the Wildcats’ 23-3 loss to Wisconsin, they only generated 203 yards of offense and recorded nine total first downs. Northwestern’s three points were its lowest offensive output this season.
In the loss, Northwestern quarterback Jack Lausch completed just 9-of-his-24 pass attempts for 82 yards. He was able to tally 55 yards on 10 carries but the rushing effort was far from enough to make up for the Wildcats’ offensive woes.
“A lot of uncharacteristic stuff showing up today,” Northwestern head coach David Braun said after the loss. “At the end of the day, that’s something that comes back on me. I’ll own it. We’ve got to be better.”
