Nationally-ranked Summer Creek (Texas) scores 81 points in blowout victory

Nationally-ranked Summer Creek (Texas) scores 81 points in blowout victory

As the 2024 high school football regular season enters the home stretch, scoreboards are beginning to look lopsided across the state of Texas.

Plenty of the Lone Star State’s top programs cruised to easy victories on Friday night, but Humble Summer Creek High’s latest performance takes the cake, as it collected an 81-6 victory over Goose Creek Memorial.

The Bulldogs are now 6-1 this season and are averaging 55.4 points per game. They’ve been stellar on the defensive side of the ball, too.

Summer Creek didn’t allow a single point in its first four games of the season, outscoring its opponents 215-0. They then ran into a buzzsaw in Atascocita, losing 42-39, but have since rebounded with another pair of dominant wins.

Entering this week, Summer Creek checked in as the No. 22 team in the nation and No. 8 team in Texas, according to the On3 Massey Ratings. Its offense ranks No. 8 in the state while its defense checks in at No. 4.

The Bulldogs now enter the final three games of their 2024 regular season. They’ll host Humble on Oct. 26, then head to Kingwood on Nov. 1 before finishing the year in a stellar in-state battle against national top-five Houston North Shore.

Other Texas programs pile on the points this week

While no other program could match 81 points, plenty of other top teams in Texas also put the scoreboard operator to work on Friday night.

No. 3 North Shore defeated Channelview 55-6 on Thursday and remain on track for an undefeated season. No. 1 Duncanville defeated Lancaster 41-7, while No. 2 Atascocita survived on the road in a 42-41 shootout win at Kingwood.

No. 5 North Crowley put up 62 points, while No. 9 Allen finished with 63. No. 6 DeSoto scored 50 in a 26-point win over Mesquite Horn, while No. 21 Willis and No. 25 Randle each eclipsed 60 points.

All of the top scores in the state of Texas this week can be found here.

The On3 Massey Ratings — officially used during the BCS era and generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
