On3 Massey Ratings Top 25 teams in Georgia High School Football after Week 7

It’s a historic week for Georgia High School Football because it’s the first with Dawgs HQ going in-depth on the high school scene, led by the dynamic team of Rusty Mansell, Jeremy Johnson and Jake Reuse.

With Week 7 in the books, we take a look at the Top 25 teams in the Peach State, according to the On3 Massey Ratings. Predictions are flying in for Week 8 from the Massey Ratings as well.

Stay tuned for more coverage as Hurricane Helene shifted plans around for many high schools and affected areas. Stay tuned for national scores HERE from On3.

1. Lee County

Previous Rank: No. 3 (+2)
The Trojans are now the No. 1 team in Georgia after an impressive 35-23 victory over No. 8 Thomas County Central on Friday night. The challenge will be just as big this week though, as they’ll welcome No. 9 Coffee to town for a huge top-10 matchup.

2. Carrollton

Previous Rank: No. 1 (-1)
Carrollton now sits just behind Lee County in the No. 2 spot with very little space between the two programs in the rankings algorithm. After being off on a bye week following their huge 48-26 win over Alabama No. 9 Parker, they’ll face an Atlanta Westlake squad looking for an upset.

3. Milton

Previous Rank: No. 2 (-1)
The Eagles sit at 5-0 after beating Seckinger on Monday night in a game that was delayed by Hurricane Helene. The Eagles will have a short turnaround this week, traveling to face 2-3 Lanier on Friday night in a game they’re heavily favored to win.

4. North Gwinnett

Previous Rank: No. 4
North Gwinnett was idle over the weekend after back-to-back dominant wins over Parkview and Brookwood, in which they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points per game. They will welcome Peachtree Ridge to town on Friday and are projected to face only one more top-25 team this season.

5. Buford

Previous Rank: No. 6 (+1)
The Wolves, like others, were also on a bye over the weekend after beating No. 11 Douglas County 31-14 three weeks ago and taking care of Discovery 46-0 on September 20. One of the biggest games in all of metro Atlanta is on tap for Friday night with No. 12 and undefeated Collins Hill rolling into town. The On3 Massey Ratings project a 40-12 victory for Buford.

6. North Cobb

Previous Rank: No. 7 (+1)
North Cobb is off to an impressive 6-0 start after routing Walton 42-14 two weeks ago. Up next is a tilt with 1-5 Marietta on October 11 after a couple of idle weeks on the Georgia high school scene.

7. Grayson

Previous Rank: No. 8 (+1)
After initially being rescheduled to Monday night because of Hurricane Helene, Grayson’s game against Newton was again postponed due to the ‘lingering effects’ of Sunday’s chemical fire in Rockdale County, according to the school. A new date hasn’t been announced yet, but the Rams now have to turn their focus to Friday’s game against Heritage.

8. Thomas County Central

Previous Rank: No. 5 (-3)
The Yellow Jackets suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of No. 1 Lee County on Saturday, dropping them to 5-1. A bounce back game is in order though, as they’ll host 0-6 Veterans on Friday night in what the On3 Massey Ratings project as a 48-7 TCC win.

9. Coffee

Previous Rank: No. 9
Coffee’s game against Northside was delayed until Monday night, but that had no effect on the Trojans as they cruised to a 41-0 victory. Their biggest game of the season by far awaits on Friday night when they head to Lee County for a matchup with the No. 1 team in the state.

10. Mill Creek

Previous Rank: No. 10
The Hawks were another team who played Monday night after the postponements, but rolled to a 56-7 win over Central Gwinnett. 1-3 Dacula is next on the slate before an enormous tilt with No. 12 Collins Hill the following week.
