Deone Walker continues to anchor Kentucky’s talented defense, which is among the best units in the entire country through five weeks.

While some of the stat sheet numbers (0.5 sacks and 2.0 tackles for loss) don’t stand out, it’s not due to a lack of trying. Walker has missed just 13 defensive snaps through three SEC games. Pro Football Focus says the defensive lineman leads Kentucky in pressures (11) and quarterback hurries (9) — and that’s while dealing with regular double-teams.

Speaking of PFF, the outlet unveiled updated 2025 NFL Mock Draft projections on Wednesday. Walker checked in at No. 16 overall to the Green Bay Packers. The Michigan native has 15 total tackles on the season along with one pass breakup.

“Walker hasn’t been the dominant force many expected in his junior season, posting a 72.3 overall grade. However, that’s still a solid mark, and his rare 6-foot-6, 345-pound frame gives him a higher ceiling than we’ve seen so far,” wrote Trevor Sikkema. “The Packers’ defense looks different under coordinator Jeff Hafley, but Walker is an ideal fit for the type of interior defensive lineman they’ve favored in the past.”

Walker is the only Wildcat mentioned in PFF’s latest mock, but he’s one of 15 SEC players listed as one of the projected 32 first-round picks. Colorado’s Travis Hunter is the projected top pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars with Alabama QB Jalen Milroe going second overall to the Miami Dolphins.

The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 24th through 26th and will take place in Green Bay.
