Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay offense are having a nice day on Thursday Night Football, putting up 27 points through three quarters. Another field goal was added but there was a downside. Mayfield was awkwardly tackled on a sack, getting twisted.

While the quarterback immediately got up, there was a limp to the sideline. No exact injury has been identified but the replay shows something in the leg area for Mayfield. Potentially on the right side while attempting to avoid a sack.

“Baker Mayfield was slow to walk off the field after that last drive,” Amazon sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung said shortly after the incident. “You saw him hobbling on his right knee. Since then he’s been back on the bench, he’s had his head in the iPad, sitting next to Liam Coen, his offensive coordinator.

“He just stood up for the first time. He’s kinda waved off any medical attention, taken a few steps up and down right now. Doesn’t look as serious as it looked like it could have been when he first got hit.”

Hartung’s update came while Atlanta was driving down the field. Kirk Cousins connected with Darnell Mooney on fourth down for a touchdown before kicking the ball back to Tampa Bay. There was no question about who would be walking out there as the quarterback, with Mayfield retaking the field.

Mayfield has completed 17 of his 21 passes, going for 179 yards and three touchdowns. The Buccaneers have been humming on offense, only punting once on the night thus far. A huge performance in a huge NFC South game against the Falcons.

Hopefully, there will be no more limping from Mayfield and he is able to finish out the game. If not, Kyle Trask is listed as the current Tampa Bay backup. With how the two offenses have been scoring, he will be needed down the stretch.
