Report: Chicago Bulls sign Josh Primo to Exhibit-10 contract

Report: Chicago Bulls sign Josh Primo to Exhibit-10 contract

Josh Primo has received another shot in the pros with a team signing him for this upcoming season in the NBA.

Per reporting from Darnell Mayberry at The Athletic, the Chicago Bulls have signed Primo to an Exhibit-10 contract. With that, the plan is for him to start with the Windy City Bulls, their affiliate in the G-League, as he rehabs and attempts to make a return in the association.

Primo, a freshman out of Alabama, was the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. He played in 54 games, including 16 starts, with the franchise where he averaged 5.9 points and 1.8 assists in just under 20 minutes per game.

However, four games into his second season, San Antonio suddenly released Primo. It was then revealed that it was due to allegations that Primo had exposed himself to women, specifically a member of the organization’s performance staff, on multiple occasions.

As for criminal charges against Primo, the district attorney did not file charges for indecent exposure due to a lack of evidence.

No team would sign him after that in ’22-’23. The Los Angeles Clippers then picked him up on a two-way deal for last season which was later converted to a regular contract. However, upon his signing, the NBA released the findings of their own investigation where they determined he “engaged in inappropriate and offensive behavior” and suspended him for four games. With that, he “maintains that his conduct was not intentional.” The league also did not find that he “engaged in any sexual or other misconduct apart from these brief exposures.”

In two games with LA, Primo averaged a point in five minutes of play.

As for 37 games in the G-League with the Austin Spurs and Ontario Clippers, Primo posted 16.7 points, 4.7 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals on 42.8% shooting from the field and 39.5% from three.

Primo came to Tuscaloosa after reclassifying to be a top prospect in the class of 2020. In 30 games over his lone season with the Crimson Tide, he averaged 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 43.1% overall and 38.1% from distance. That earned him a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. ‘Bama then went on to make the Sweet 16 in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

Primo is attempting to get back on a team at the next level. Chicago is now the latest one to give him a chance with this signing today.
