Alabama vs. Vanderbilt: Wednesday injury report

Alabama vs. Vanderbilt: Wednesday injury report

There are no off weeks in the SEC, especially on the road. Alabama is fresh off a massive win against Georgia but is now traveling to Nashville for a matchup against Vanderbilt. Clark Lea has done a great job with the Commodores and has them battling against highly-ranked SEC foes.

Saturday will mark Alabama’s first trip to Vanderbilt since 2017 and just the fourth game between the two since 2011. The SEC splitting into divisions took out the frequency of matchups as non-protected SEC East and West foes rarely met on the field.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. on SEC Network but before then, there are some injuries both teams need to deal with. Wednesday’s injury report has been released as there will be a few names to track leading into gameday.

Three more reports will be provided by the programs, with the last coming just moments before the game begins on Saturday. It’s early in the week and gives players listed plenty of time to recover.

Clark Lea reacts to Alabama placing rat traps around facility

Vanderbilt is up next for Alabama, and coming off a charged, emotional win, the Crimson Tide are making sure to not fall into a trap or consume the “rat poison,” as Nick Saban coined it, of excessive praise.

Alabama was so dedicated to this idea that this week, the player personnel staff put rat traps around the football facilities. But while that’s gotten plenty of attention, Commodores head coach Clark Lea has kept the blinders on and is trying his best to get his team ready to spring that trap.

But mostly, he’s not paying much attention to the mental exercises of his opponent, even if he understands the effort.

“I have not,” Lea said on the SEC coaches teleconference about seeing the stories from Tuscaloosa. “I pretty well keep myself insulated and just focused on my job and what we need to do here. I think any coach anywhere is going to understand that after a really emotional game and an emotional win, it doesn’t matter who you’re playing next, there’s inevitably a chance for a game in which you don’t represent yourself the right way.”
