Connor Weigman injury update: Aggies QB status revealed in Missouri vs Texas A&M injury report

Connor Weigman injury update: Aggies QB status revealed in Missouri vs Texas A&M injury report

The lone ranked-on-ranked matchup of Week 6 is an SEC showdown in College Station, as Missouri visits Texas A&M. And the preliminary injury reports are out for both squads.

The most notable situation to track will be that of Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman, who is working back from an injury to his throwing shoulder. If Weigman cannot play, the Aggies will continue to start Marcel Reed.

See the full injury reports for the Tigers and Aggies below.

On Wednesday, Elko shared an update on Weigman on the SEC coaches teleconference, saying the quarterback was throwing and would likely be a “game time decision” to play.

“He’s now throwing,” Elko said. “We’re able to get him out there and functioning a little bit, which is good. He will be a game-time decision this week.”

There’s also a fascinating dynamic playing out behind the scenes for both teams, as Reed’s sister, Briah Reed, works in the Missouri football program.

“It’s created an interesting dynamic. At the end of the day that’s her brother and that’s her blood, and we know that she’s doing her job here,” Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz said. “But family is always so important and so we don’t want her to be in any type of conflict of interest. In fact I just saw her in the hallway just a second ago. But I’m not letting her in the copy room and she’s sure not going to have her eyes on the scouting report.”

In college football, when any small thing can provide an edge, Drinkwitz is making sure there are no double-dealings involving Marcel Reed.

He was asked pointedly on Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference if he was being serious about Reed not being allowed at practice.

“No I wasn’t joking. No, Briah is awesome. I actually didn’t even know until after the Florida game that that was her brother,” Drinkwitz said. “If she wants to go to practice I’m sure she could be out there probably same as the media, first five periods.”
