Tennessee vs. Arkansas: Wednesday injury report revealed

Tennessee vs. Arkansas: Wednesday injury report revealed

Tennessee had the week off and still continued its climb toward the top of the AP Top 25. The Volunteers are now No. 4 in the country after they leapfrogged a now-one-loss Georgia squad.

Josh Heupel’s team will face Sam Pittman’s Arkansas Saturday in Fayetteville. Arkansas is coming off a 21-17 loss at Texas A&M, where the Razorbacks dropped to 3-2 on the season. They also suffered a double-overtime defeat to Oklahoma State earlier this season, during which they saw a 21-7 first-half lead evaporate.

Tennessee and Arkansas haven’t met since the 2020 season. That year, the Razorbacks emerged victorious, 24-13, marking the Hogs’ fourth win in their last five tries against the Volunteers. That said, Tennessee leads the all-time series, 13-6.

With SEC play ramping up, neither team is completely healthy at this point of the 2024 campaign. Both Tennessee and Arkansas released injury reports Wednesday night.

Arkansas came into the week with concerns at tight end and in the back end. Early in the second half, top Razorbacks tight end Luke Hasz left the game with a back issue. He reached for his lower back after bringing in a two-yard pass and then being forced out of bounds. Hasz is fifth on the team with seven receptions, 93 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Andreas Paaske, who transferred in from Eastern Michigan this offseason, has missed the last two games after entering concussion protocol the week of the Auburn game. Paaske is Arkansas’ go-to blocking tight end.

Safety Hudson Clark dressed for last week’s game at Texas A&M, but he didn’t see action. Clark scattered 23 snaps across the first two games of the season, according to Pro Football Focus. Plus, cornerback Jaylon Braxton has now missed three straight games with tendinitis and a bone bruise.

As for Tennessee, the Volunteers entered the off week with some injury issues up front — specifically at the tackle spots. Left tackle Lance Heard has missed the last two games with an ankle injury, and right tackle John Campbell exited the Oklahoma game early.

Dayne Davis filled filled in for Heard, and Larry Johnson replaced Campbell on the right side.
