Brandin Cooks injury update: Reported details emerge surrounding Cowboys WR’s infected knee

Brandin Cooks injury update: Reported details emerge surrounding Cowboys WR’s infected knee

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks suffered a knee injury in the game against the New York Giants, and more details have been revealed. According to Jane Slater of the NFL Network, the Cowboys were aware of the injections that Cooks was undergoing after the Giants game. The knee got infected, and when Cooks returned to Dallas, Dan Cooper (the team doctor) scoped the knee to clean out the infection and smooth out the meniscus issue.

Brandin should feel great in 1-3 weeks,” the source told Slater. It was reported that Cooks could miss multiple weeks due to the injured knee. He will not play on Sunday when the Cowboys face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Brandin Cooks has a knee issue. He will not be available this week,” head coach Mike McCarthy said in Wednesday’s press conference, per the Cowboys’ official website. “I don’t talk about specific player injuries. The specifics should be answered by the players. But he will not be available.”

Cooks has been dealing with knee issues since training camp, which led him to miss a few practices. He has played in every game this season and has caught nine passes for 91 yards and four touchdowns. Cooks is in his second year with the Cowboys after spending three seasons with the Houston Texans. Since joining the NFL in 2014, Cooks has also played for the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.

Before the season opener last month, Cooks shared his thoughts on the criticism QB Dak Prescott receives. “It’s blasphemy. It’s unbelievable,” Cook said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “The guy shows up every year, year in and year out. Putting up numbers, leading his team. He can’t do it all by himself. A lot of those great quarterbacks that I’ve been with, Tom (Brady) and Drew (Brees), don’t get me wrong, they won a lot of games, won a lot of Super Bowls, but they had a lot of help around them as well, right?”
