Six killed in mass shooting in Tel Aviv – media (VIDEOS)

Police have reportedly killed the two gunmen believed responsible for the attack

At least six people have been killed in a mass shooting in Tel Aviv, Israel, late on Tuesday, with a number of people wounded, including at least three critically, local media report, citing police and emergency responders.

The attack took place in the Jaffa area in the south of the city. Israeli police have acknowledged the incident, stating that they have been treating it as a suspected terrorist attack.

Unverified footage suggests that the incident involved at least two attackers, who arrived at the scene by tram and opened fire on commuters immediately after disembarking. At least one of the attackers appeared to be wielding an M4-patterned assault rifle.

Both attackers were killed in an ensuing firefight against responding law enforcement, local media have reported. The reports have been corroborated by extremely graphic unverified footage circulating online.

The shooting unfolded shortly before Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles at Tel Aviv and other targets in Israel. The attack appears to be extremely large in scale, with dozens of projectiles appearing to have made it through the country’s air defenses, numerous videos published online suggest.
