Rocky Top Roundtable: Arkansas

Rocky Top Roundtable: Arkansas

Tennessee is fresh off a bye week as they travel to Arkansas this weekend to take on a Razorback team coming off a loss to Texas A&M. It’s back to back road games for the Vols in what is a sneaky tough place to play.

“I think it’s a 60 minute deal,” Brent Hubbs said. “I think you can survive but you don’t want them to get in a rhythm is what you want to avoid. And you don’t want that crowd to get into it. Arkansas has been a solid starting team and at home and at night it’s a sneaky loud place if you let them get going.”

Arkansas has been much improved this season and they have plenty of challenges to offer, while also being vulnerable at the same time.

“I think overall Arkansas has some pieces but when you put it all together and look at the team, I’m not sure it’s together overall,” Eric Cain said. “At least not to the caliber of Tennessee. You can run the ball and defensively they have done some thing well but the passing game and the quarterback, there are some shortcomings there. If Tennessee goes in and handles business and plays the way Tennessee can then it shouldn’t be an issue. You just can’t sleep walk through it.”

Tennessee (4-0, 1-0 SEC), coming off a bye week following the 25-15 win at Oklahoma on September 21, goes to Arkansas (3-2, 1-1) on Saturday night.

The Vols moved up to No. 4 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and Coaches Poll on Sunday. Alabama was the new No. 1 in the AP Poll after the 41-34 win over Georgia Saturday night. The Bulldogs, who trailed 28-0 in Tuscaloosa before coming back to take a late lead, dropped from second to fifth.

Tennessee returns home next week to host Florida before Alabama comes to Neyland Stadium on October 19. The Vols go to Georgia on November 16.
