ScoopDuck Roundtable: Surprise Storyline vs Michigan State

ScoopDuck Roundtable: Surprise Storyline vs Michigan State

It’s officially game week just like that. With Oregon set to host Michigan State on Friday night. That means we have a short week to get ready for the big game.

As usual we start out this week’s roundtable with our surprise storyline prediction. You can read them all below and let us know which one you agree with or your very own prediction.

Max Torres: Oregon allows zero sacks

A lot has been said about the Oregon offensive line through four games. The Ducks had some serious struggles the first two weeks but now it looks like they’re starting to gel a bit more and have found their footing with a consistent starting five. Signs don’t seem to indicate this offensive line will become as good as last year’s and I know Michigan State is a step up in competition, but I think Gabriel stays upright all game against the Spartans.

Collin King: Nikko Reed gets picked on again this week

It was definitely a bit of a shock to see Nikko Reed get targeted the way he did this past week against UCLA, but Rico Flores Jr is a very underrated player. I think Reed could unfortunately get targeted again this week against one of Michigan State’s four best outside WRs. Specifically I’d watch for Nick Marsh or Antonio Gates Jr to match up a few times with Reed. I would love to see a bounceback game however from Reed and think he is certainly capable of doing so in front of a home crowd.

Linden Hile: Sluggish Start

I think this game will look fairly similar to last week’s matchup with UCLA with the Ducks being in clear control throughout but never really turning the game into a blowout. Both teams face a short week and Michigan State must travel a long distance to Autzen but on the flip side, Oregon had the significantly later game on Saturday so it wouldn’t surprise me if it took the offenses a bit to get going.

Jhop: Oregon DOMINATES LOS

The Ducks have had mixed reviews so far this season. Closer wins than they should have. Explosive halves, explosive quarters and the opposite in both. This week I think Oregon puts together a pretty solid four quarter performance particularly up front. The Ducks will run with relative ease on the Spartans while holding up on the line of scrimmage on defense. This will be a really good chance for Oregon to hit on all cylinders headed into the Ohio State game.
