DJ Uiagalelei injury update: Return timeline emerges, Florida State to start Brock Glenn per report

DJ Uiagalelei injury update: Return timeline emerges, Florida State to start Brock Glenn per report

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei suffered a broken finger on his throwing hand during the loss to SMU. The injury timeline has now been revealed, with Uiagalelei expected to miss “the next few weeks.” More evaluation is to come and the exact amount of time Uiagalelei misses will be known.

“Sources: Florida State QB DJ Uiagalelei is undergoing testing to figure out options for a broken finger on his throwing hand, which he suffered against SMU,” Thamel said via X. “He’s expected to miss the next few weeks, but a clear timeline will come with further evaluation.”

With the injury, there will be a quarterback switch for Florida State moving forward. Thamel says the Seminoles with roll with Brock Glenn, beginning on Saturday in a huge ACC showdown.

“Brock Glenn will start for FSU against Clemson, per sources,” Thamel said.

Uiagalelei suffered the reported broken finger late in the fourth quarter with Florida State already down to SMU. Adding insult to injury, the Mustangs intercepted Uiagalelei and took it back for a pick-six, extending the lead to 26 points.

Not much has gone right for Mike Norvell‘s squad this season. While Uiagalelei has not been the main issue, his play certainly has not helped. The former Clemson and Oregon State signal-caller is completing just 53.8% of his throws, going for 1,065 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions in five games played.

Florida State was hoping to keep the quarterback play at a high level with Jordan Travis out of the program. Unfortunately, things have just not worked with Uiagalelei under center, injury or no injury.

A fresh face could spruce the situation up, though. Glenn has six games of experience under his belt, most notably last season’s ACC Championship vs. Louisville and Orange Bowl against Georgia. His next start comes in another big-time situation, going up against Clemson in what was viewed as the preseason ACC Game of the Year.
