Top-20 recruit Darius Adams commits to UConn

Top-20 recruit Darius Adams commits to UConn

Darius Adams, one of the top shooting guards in the 2025 class, has committed to UConn and head coach Dan Hurley, he announced.

The 6-foot-5 four-star senior out of La Lumiere School (IN) chose the back-to-back National Champion Huskies over Tennessee, Michigan State, and others.

Adams, a native of New Jersey, is the No. 17 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 5 shooting guard prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Adams becomes UConn’s first commitment in the 2025 class.

Scouting Report

“Darius Adams’ skill base is very intriguing. A player who stands in the 6-4/6-5 range, he has a smooth jump shot. That is the piece his game is predicated on. Adams has good balance going from finger tips to toes with a consistent release. He is developing off the bounce, able to get yo his comfort spots in the half court off two and three dribbles. He will need to continue adding strength and he is a late bloomer physically. He is also someone who continues to add something to their game each time you see them. There will be some defensive questions as he can lose engagement off ball and plays upright at times. There are a lot of translatable pieces to his game and those flashes are become much more consistent.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw

Adams listed as a Top-10 Long Range Sharpshooter

According to On3’s Jamie Shaw, Darius Adams is one of the top-10 shooters in the class of 2025.

“Darius Adams has a known reputation as a shooter. With solid length at 6-foot-4, he shot 41.0 percent from three this high school season on Nike’s EYBL Scholastic Circuit. This summer Adams was less consistent, maybe because he was asked to do so much more in terms of self-creation, but his history of marksmanship still gets him on this list. Adams is comfortable shooting the ball of the catch or off movement. He has soft touch with a repeatable release. His off-the-bounce game is developing and as that comes, along with strength, he should become even more of a threat. Adams is confident and he plays with a smooth cadence.”
