ESPN’s Adam Schefter, a known Michigan man, wore a USC shirt Monday on Get Up to mock the Trojans. Now hang on, here comes the explanation.

Well actually, let’s just let Schefter explain this bet. The bet hinged on the winner of the Michigan-USC game the other week.

The Wolverines won, so this one is curious to say the least.

“Well, what happened was, I bet one of my buddies, Jacob … who went to USC, on the Michigan USC game,” Schefter said on Get Up. “Whoever won, the other person would send the person a shirt. So Michigan beat USC. So he sent me the shirt. I’m displaying the fact that Michigan kicked USC’s butt.

“Okay. Way to go, Jacob … take that,” host Mike Greenberg responded, seemingly sarcastically.

Usually, the loser of the bet would wear the other shirt right? So wouldn’t Schefter’s buddy Jacob wear a Michigan shirt? And do it after the game? Not after Michigan beat Minnesota and USC beat Wisconsin this past Saturday.

“I’m sorry if it’s confusing,” as John Cleese would say in Fawlty Towers.

Lincoln Riley, USC dealing with drama despite win

Anyway, USC bounced back from a loss to Michigan with a win over Wisconsin, despite the lack of Bear Alexander.

Life came at Lincoln Riley fast this week, as he went from saying on Tuesday that there was “no story” behind Alexander seemingly being upset with his role to the defensive tackle on Thursday reportedly planning to redshirt and transfer after this season.

But the USC head coach is still bullish on the defensive line room the Trojans have.

Alexander, who transferred in from Georgia ahead of the 2023 season, was arguably the Trojans’ most talented interior line defender. Even still, the Trojans have featured a deep rotation this year — Alexander was seemingly upset because he played 21 of 58 possible snaps in a loss to Michigan — that Riley expects to step up in the absence of Alexander.

“I don’t think it’s changed, really. It’s been high from the start of the season,” Riley said of competition and expectations from the defensive line room. “We’ve got a lot of guys in that room that are contributing, that are playing at a high level. We don’t have some of the plays and results that we’ve had defensively without that so it’s going to be about the group and their effort. And yeah, just got our business as usual.”
