The future is looking bright for the Texas Longhorns football program.

Not only are fans already getting a taste of what’s to come with quarterback and redshirt freshman Arch Manning as he fills in for starter Quinn Ewers. They also have the likes of athletes like Nick Townsend, a 2025 four-star tight end out of Houston Dekaney High School. Townsend is currently the No. 3 tight end nationally and No. 20 among Texas athletes, according to 247Sports’ rankings of the 2025 class of college football prospects.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound tight end was forced to fill in at quarterback this past weekend.

Perhaps he should have been playing under center all along, as Townsend recorded five offensive touchdowns in Dekaney’s win over Ardine—Dekaney’s first win of the season.
