Texas opened SEC play with a sloppy first half performance

Texas Longhorns football struggled at times against Mississippi State in the team’s Southeastern Conference opener this past weekend. That much was true for anyone who tuned in to Texas’ 35-13 win over the Bulldogs.

For head coach Steve Sarkisian, the narrow win came as a relief in some ways.

Particularly, Sarkisian is happy to see his team grit through a sluggish start.

“I’m actually kind of glad that we had some adversity today, you know, because the first four games were kind of smooth sailing, and we needed some rough waters and to see how we would respond, because there’s going to be rough waters ahead,” Sarkisian said, according to Sports Illustrated. “And I thought our guys responded really well today, and they showed poise and composure. Nobody lost their cool. They stayed engaged, and they found a way to fight back and pull away in a tough game, and that’s what the SEC is all about.”

It just means more. Remember?
