Rap icon Andre 3000 appears at Texas football practice

Rap icon Andre 3000 appears at Texas football practice

Texas is enjoying a nice 4-0 start to the 2024 season, about to begin SEC play with Mississippi State coming to town. This has led to a few celebrities coming to Austin and checking out the Longhorns under head coach Steve Sarkisian. More than just the usual suspects as well, with the most popular being the Minister of Culture, Matthew McConaughey.

On Monday, rap icon Andre 3000 was on the 40 Acres hanging out with the Texas football team. A photo of him and Sarkisian was posted by the team’s official X account. They were located inside Sarkisian’s office and standing in front of some of the game balls the head coach has earned since taking over the program.

Assuming he spoke to the team, a cool person for the players to hear from. A later tweet showed photos of Sarkisian giving Andre 3000 his own jersey, being shown around the facility, and getting to walk onto Campbell-Williams Field at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Andre 3000 performed in Austin on Sunday night for ACL Live at the Moody Theater. He is scheduled to be in Houston on Wednesday, continuing his A Myriad of Pyramid tour. Those dates run all the way until early November, traveling around the country.

Being from Atlanta, maybe the rapper just needed to get his SEC football fix in while making a swing through the Lone Star State.

Steve Sarkisian labels Quinn Ewers questionable heading into Mississippi State

Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian shared an injury update on quarterback Quinn Ewers, explaining that he would currently be listed as questionable.

This comes after Quinn Ewers suffered a non-contact abdominal injury in the team’s win against UTSA in Week 3. That then sidelined him for the Longhorns’ win over ULM last week, with Arch Manning starting at quarterback in his place.

“Quinn practiced today,” Steve Sarkisian said during his Monday press conference. “If I had to put a report out, he’d be questionable for Saturday.”

Next week, the Texas Longhorns are opening SEC play with their first-ever game in the conference against Mississippi State. That’s a game that Sarkisian would naturally prefer to have his starting quarterback return for. However, if Ewers is once again unable to go, then the Longhorns are confident in Manning.
