Paul Finebaum reveals who’s under more pressure in Georgia vs. Alabama
The Georgia Bulldogs are traveling to Tuscaloosa this weekend for a massive game against the Alabama Crimson Tide. It’s a game that analyst Paul Finebaum knows is going to be full of pressure for both sides.
As he explained on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning, Finebaum doesn’t want to become a prisoner of the moment in a long season where things can change quickly. However, for the time being, he sees Georgia as being the team under the most pressure.
“You said it earlier, prisoner of the moment,” Paul Finebaum said. “I think that’s where we are right now whether real or not on Alabama. I’m the same way. Two weeks ago I was thinking this could be a really bad moment for Alabama. Now, I think the other thing has, and quite frankly you can debate who the pressure is on. To me, it seems like it is on Kirby Smart.”
Finebaum argued that the schedule for Georgia, which includes games against four of the teams currently ranked in the top six of the AP Poll, makes this game much more important for Georgia, especially in the context for where the Bulldogs are as a program.

“Because if he can’t beat Kalen DeBoer with a team that’s already a little bit on the brink after once again being declared the national champion before the season, and the schedule,” Finebaum said. “Nobody’s got a tougher road schedule with a loss to Alabama than this bunch, with Texas and Ole Miss still to come. You’re talking about dangerous territory right now.”
In the case of Alabama, this is going to be the first SEC game for the program under head coach Kalen DeBoer. It’s immediately into the deep end, but it’s also coming at a time when it looks like he has things going well.
“Where Alabama, I think, the transition by Kalen DeBoer, outside of the first four or five days when chaos reigned, has been about as smooth as I’ve ever seen,” Finebaum said. “By the way, that includes Nick Saban. He took over a terrible program. Kalen DeBoer took over a good program and has maintained it. I don’t know if it’s any better or not but we’ll be hearing it with a win Saturday night.”
Alabama and Georgia will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, September 28th. Both teams enter the game unbeaten and are coming off of a bye week.
