Travis Hunter: Hunter caught seven passes for 130 yards and made the most important defensive play of the game, forcing a fumble just before Baylor back Dominic Richardson crossed the goal line for a potential tying touchdown in overtime.

Ashton Jeanty: Boise State cruised past Portland State and Jeanty averaged a brisk 11.5 yards a carry.

Cam Ward: Ward went off for 404 passing yards and three touchdowns in a 50-15 win at USF that USF once led 15-14.

Ari Wasserman

1. CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado
2. QB Cam Ward, Miami
3. QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama

Travis Hunter: It’s going to be a battle having Hunter high on this list when Colorado starts losing more games later in the season, but Hunter is probably the best player in college football and made game-altering plays to help the Buffs beat Baylor Saturday night. He should go to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony even if Colorado turns out to stink.

Cam Ward: Another week, another huge Ward performance. He threw for more than 400 yards in a win over USF over the weekend. If he’s the reason ‘The U’ comes back this year, he has a real chance to win the award.

Jalen Milroe: Alabama’s quarterback looked really good in a win over Wisconsin last weekend. If he’s as improved as he looks and it shows on the field next weekend against Georgia, Milroe Mania is going to take off.

Jesse Simonton

1. QB Cam Ward, Miami
2. CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado
3. RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State

Cam Ward: Miami’s transfer had another 400-yard, three-touchdown night and is playing with such swagger that he’s telling what play is coming and that they still can’t stop it. And USF couldn’t.

Travis Hunter: Book this man a ticket to New York City today. Another 130 yards receiving, a circus catch that didn’t count and the game-winning forced fumble. Just ho-hum stuff, right?

Ashton Jeanty: Jeanty continues to pick up more than a first down with every carry, averaging 11.6 yards per touch against Portland State.

1. QB Cam Ward, Miami
2. CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado
3. RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State

Cam Ward: He cruised through non-conference play, looking like the top signal caller in college football through four weeks. He leads the nation in passing touchdowns and is second in passing efficiency.

Travis Hunter: Hunter is a unique player in recent college football history, affecting the game in so many ways. We saw this on Saturday night as he was Colorado’s leading receiver and forced the game-winning fumble in overtime.

Ashton Jeanty: Jeanty continues to dominate the competition. The projected early round draft pick is averaging 10.46 yards per carry and is second nationally in rushing touchdowns despite playing 1.5 less games than most other running backs.

JD PicKell

1. QB Cam Ward, Miami
2. CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado
3. QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama

Cam Ward: Ward went for 400 yards and three touchdowns against scrappy USF. Will play more formidable competition in the future but with Quinn Ewers out, he’s the lead horse.

Travis Hunter: If Hunter isn’t a Heisman Trophy finalist, we’re giving this award out incorrectly. Over 100 yards receiving (again) and the game-winning forced fumble.

Jalen Milroe: The Tide were off this week but has a massive opportunity to claim pole position of the Heisman race when Georgia comes to town. His performance against Wisconsin still carries weight for me in this week’s rankings.
