JJ Watt hilariously congratulates brother TJ Watt on first child ahead of Steelers vs. Chargers game

JJ Watt hilariously congratulates brother TJ Watt on first child ahead of Steelers vs. Chargers game

Older brothers don’t have an age limit. On Sunday, former NFL Defensive Player of the Year and current CBS analyst JJ Watt congratulated his younger brother, TJ, on his and his wife’s first pregnancy by giving him a baby-sized Steelers jersey with “Dad” written across the back.

Only moments before JJ surprised his brother with the kind gift, TJ was talking about how he was attempting to get in the proper headspace before the Steelers squared off against the Los Angeles Chargers. Fittingly, TJ had a hilarious reaction to his older brother’s kind-hearted effort.

“Thanks, man,” TJ said. “I appreciate you trying to mess up my headspace. I really appreciate it. I’m gonna go back and lock in now.”

JJ, along with his fellow analysts in the studio couldn’t help but laugh at the unexpected response. Nonetheless, JJ was ready with the perfect comeback.

“Hey, I had 10 sacks in 10 games after I had [my son] Koa, so I’m just saying,” Watt said. “We’ve seen a lot of great things. We might see some great things.”

In typical little brother fashion, TJ couldn’t allow his brother to get the last laugh.

“We get it, JJ,” TJ said. “Keep pumping yourself up.”

Adding to the Watt dynasty

If JJ or TJ’s children have a fraction of their fathers’ talent, NFL fans will be entertained for years to come. JJ Watt holds the records for most tackles for loss (172), sacks (101), and forced fumbles (25) in Houston Texans’ history.

In his time with the organization, he led the league in sacks twice and tackles for loss three separate years (2012, 2014, 2015). JJ won the Defensive Player of the Year Award three times in his first five NFL seasons.

Unlike JJ, TJ is still building his legacy on the gridiron. Since being drafted in 2017, TJ has been named a First-Team All-Pro four times and was the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He’s also led the league in sacks in three separate seasons.

TJ is off to another excellent start this season. Through only two games, TJ boasts seven tackles, two sacks, a pass deflection and a fumble recovery. With any luck, the six-time Pro Bowler will add even more accolades to his illustrious résumé this season.

As of this report, the Steelers and Chargers are in the second quarter. Tune into the game on CBS.
