Paul Finebaum: Colorado ‘the most exciting thing on television’ after Hail Mary, OT win over Baylor

Paul Finebaum: Colorado ‘the most exciting thing on television’ after Hail Mary, OT win over Baylor

Paul Finebaum goes back and forth on his love-hate relationship with Colorado and Deion Sanders. But boy he loved them after Saturday night’s overtime win over Baylor.

Colorado forced overtime on a Hail Mary heave from Shedeur Sanders to LaJohntay Wester and scored first in the extra period. From there, Travis Hunter forced a fumble that ended the game and it improved the Buffaloes to 3-1, winning their first Big 12 game of the year.

There’s not a better show in college football than the team led by Deion Sanders.

“I am in,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter. “We’re not talking about a football team. We’re talking about a legitimate reality show. Move over ‘Golden Bachelor.’ I mean, this is the most exciting thing on television right now. And by the way, it’s been that way since Coach Prime got there. But I don’t think in all the dramatics we’ve seen anything quite like the scene last night.

“I mean, this was made for Hollywood. It’s hard even to believe. I mean, the percentage of making this, of Colorado winning the game, was under 1% on the final play, and they still managed to do it. But then again, Coach Prime is in charge.”

Sounds like Deion Sanders was quite grateful after this one. Colorado trailed 24-10 at one point but pulled off what looked like a miracle.

“Great, great, great, great win. Young men were resilient. They never gave up. They never surrendered. The coaches were still inspired. I mean, all the way to the end, they were still calling and devising things,” Sanders said postgame. “And once we scored, we were already thinking, Okay, we want to defer if we win, because we want to put our defense out first, but they won to toss, and it went from there. I don’t like how it played out, but I love the results.

“I think we’re so much better than what we’re showing you at times. We keep showing you glimpses of a running game. We show you we can throw the ball all around, and then we just stall for a series of two and surrender something foolishly, but I’m pleased, and thank you. I’m thankful. One step closer to getting Miss Peggy to a Bowl game. So I’m really proud of that.”
