STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Florida Gators look to snap a seven-game losing streak against FBS teams Saturday in their first SEC road contest against Mississippi State. UF is 5-7 at MSU but has won its last two trips to Starkville.

Both teams enter the game with a 1-2 record and desperately need a victory after embarrassing losses at home last week, with the Bulldogs suffering a 41-17 loss to Toledo and Florida dropping its SEC opener to Texas A&M, 33-20.

SECOND QUARTER

– After Montrell Johnson Jr. fumbled on DJ Lagway’s first series of the game, Mertz checked back in on Florida’s fourth series and led the offense on a seven-play, 65-yard touchdown drive. He threw an absolute dime to Marcus Burke for a 20-yard TD. He’s now 13-14 for 103 yards and two scores. (14-7, 10:56)

FIRST QUARTER

– Florida’s first lead of the season against an FBS team didn’t last long. The Bulldogs responded with an eight-play, 62-yard touchdown drive. MSU running back Davon Booth tied the game with a short TD run after his first-down pickup on third-and-4. (7-7, 0:21)

– After going three-and-out on their opening possession, UF quarterback Graham Mertz orchestrated a 13-play, 84-yard touchdown drive. Mertz converted a third-and-8, had two scrambles of 16 and 7 yards and capped the series with a 3-yard TD pass to tight end Arlis Boardingham. (7-0, 3:39)
