With that being the case, this is the first-ever official injury report for Mississippi State and now the second for Florida.

The update from Wednesday to Thursday already saw one subtraction from it. Corey Ellington went from probable to off the report entirely for the Bulldogs. That brought the total statuses on the list to 19 players with eight for Mississippi State and 11 for Florida

Florida comes in being underwater through just three games this season. They’ve suffered a 24-point loss at home to a rival in Miami to open and a 13-point loss, which wasn’t even as close as that at times, at home to start the conference slate against Texas A&M. That’s not to mention the quarterback and roster questions that have been asked since kickoff. Simply put, it hasn’t been going well and Billy Napier is taking the brunt of it for that with the conversation now coming to his job security.

As for Mississippi State, they’re not in a much better spot after last week. Jeff Lebby is going to get his grace as a first-year, let alone first-time, head coach for the Bulldogs. That said, while a seven-point loss, albeit one that was more one-sided than that margin, at Arizona State is one thing, a 25-point home loss to Toledo is a whole other.

When looking at each of their respective league schedules, this is one that both Florida and Mississippi State may desperately need. Some of these players could make the difference in that depending on who ends up out and who can be in for kickoff tomorrow afternoon.

Eugene Wilson, Joey Slackman both out for Florida

Florida will be without two of their bigger names coming into this season on Saturday due to injury.

The most significant of the pair is the second consecutive absence for Eugene Wilson, the Gators’ leader in receptions and second-leader in yardage. He was listed as out on Wednesday’s injury report following a knee injury he had against Samford that held him out last weekend against the Aggies. He has since had a minor procedure done on that knee. This comes after he had totaled 13 catches for 191 yards and a touchdown in his short time this season.

The other name is one that Florida added in the offseason in Joey Slackman. He will also be out and now reportedly be out for a significant amount of time following arthroscopic surgery on his left meniscus. In a pair of appearances against the ‘Canes and A&M, he had put up two tackles for their defensive line.
