Ohio could play multiple quarterbacks against Kentucky

Southern Miss and South Carolina each played two quarterbacks against Kentucky before Georgia just rolled with likely future top-10 pick Carson Beck in Week 3. The Wildcats could see multiple quarterbacks again in Week 4 when the Wildcats host Ohio.

Former UCF transfer Parker Navarro was benched during last week’s 21-3 win over Morgan State after throwing three interceptions.

“Parker had a tough second quarter. Not to breakdown every turnover but he’s our starter. But the quarterback position has got to produce and we felt like making a change when we did. I’ve been here 20 years, as the running back coach, when so and so is hot that’s what we do. We have made changes at the quarterback position when the production is not there,” Albin told the media at his press conference this week. “That’s going to continue to be the case.”

Junior college transfer Nick Poulos stepped in for Navarro and completed two-of-four passes in the win. The California native is a big quarterback (6-6, 234) who can be a threat on the ground. Poulos only played two games last year at El Camino College throwing for 467 yards on 12.3 yards per attempt and rushing for 39 yards on 10 carries.

There is not much known about the Ohio backup quarterback but Kentucky should be ready to see both. No matter who takes the snaps for the Bobcats, QB run is something that Brad White’s defense must be prepared for on Saturday afternoon. Navarro and Poulos have combined to rush for over 180 yards this season but do have three combined fumbles.
