Washington flips 2025 OT Jack Shaffer from Iowa State

Washington flips 2025 OT Jack Shaffer from Iowa State

Bismarck (N.D.) three-star offensive tackle Jack Shaffer has flipped his commitment from Iowa State to Washington, he announced on Tuesday evening.

The 6-foot-7, 320-pounder was pledged to the Cyclones since April 24 but now becomes the latest to join the fold for Jedd Fisch and the Huskies.

Shaffer is the No. 37 offensive tackle and No. 2 player in North Dakota in the 2025 On300. He checks in as the No. 1,047 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The addition of Shaffer gives Washington 27 commitments in the 2025 cycle. The class ranks No. 21 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Fisch and Co. quietly built a respectable class across the summer, landing commitments from eight blue-chip prospects.

Fullerton (Calif.) Troy four-star tight end Vander Ploog committed on June 25 and is On3’s No. 152 recruit and No. 10 TE in the nation. Fisch and TEs coach Jordan Paopao locked down one of the Golden State’s best this cycle.

“I like the developmental lessons that I’ve seen from Coach Paopao,” Ploog told On3’s Chad Simmons. “He’s a phenomenal coach. He has coached a ton of dudes who have already played in the NFL. He’s a profound coach, so I really like the coaching there and the family culture that they create over there.”

Spanaway (Wash.) Bethel four-star linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale is now On3’s No. 140 recruit and the No. 1 player in Washington State. La Verne (Calif.) Bonita four-star athlete Dylan Robinson isn’t far behind at No. 143 overall.

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star wide receiver Raiden Vines-Bright is a top-25 pass-catcher in the On300 and one of two WRs in the mix alongside Pleasanton (Calif.) Archbishop Riordan four-star Chris Lawson.

Other top commits include: San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian four-star interior offensive lineman Champ Taulealea, Auburn (Wash.) Riverside four-star linebacker Jonathan Epperson, Phoenix Mountain Pointe four-star safety Rylon Dillard-Allen and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei three-star quarterback Dash Beierly.
