Three weeks into the 2024 season, Clemson had a bye. That meant Dabo Swinney had the chance to do what millions of people were doing on Saturday – watch a full day of college football.

Swinney had a full setup going, using his YouTube TV multiview on his iPad with games on his phone and TV, as well. He had quite the setup going as the Tigers took a week off.

It wasn’t easy for Swinney to get the game on his phone, though. He had to download the app – which apparently took some work.

“I’m gonna tell you, I am a big YouTube TV guy now,” Swinney said. “I finally figured out how to get that frickin’ app on my phone. It’s like an act of Congress. You’ve got to have like birth certificates and all kinds of stuff to get some of these things. I don’t know all these codes. ‘Who’s your provider?’ It’s some crazy stuff on there. Anyway, I got the YouTube TV, and man, it was awesome.

“I had my phone going, I had my iPad going with four screens and I had the TV going. I would imagine some of y’all probably did the same thing because this is what you do for a living, right? Y’all got to know what the heck’s going on. And I mean, we had a lot of teams playing that we’re gonna play. That’s really what I did all day. I just watched ball all day, and it was awesome and just fun to watch. Saw some good stuff, saw some bad stuff. Just enjoyed it.”

Clemson took a 1-1 record into the Week 3 bye, which came after a resounding 66-20 victory over Appalachian State. it was a strong bounce-back for the Tigers after suffering a lopsided 34-3 loss to Georgia in the season opener, and the week off came ahead of the ACC opener this week.

However, Clemson will be down a key player on offense. Dietrick Pennington suffered an ACL injury in the victory over Appalachian State and will have to undergo a procedure, meaning it’ll be next man up for the Tigers on the offensive line.

“Do have some bad news. We did lose Dietrick Pennington. He’s gotta have his ACL repaired,” Dabo Swinney said. “He had kind of what they call, it wasn’t fully torn, but I think it’s one of those deals where it’s not going to heal back up, so they’ve gotta fix it. So really I hate that for that kid.”
