LSU lands top-ranked 2026 outfielder Sydnee Williams
From the desert to the bayou. Softball America’s top-ranked outfielder in the 2026 class Sydnee Williams announced her commitment to LSU on Monday. Williams hails from Sandra Day O’Connor High School in Phoenix, which has produced recent stars Grace Lyons, Rylee Holtorf and Jocelyn Erickson.
The lefty-swinging Williams fits what LSU has had in its outfield in recent years as she presents speed, power and top-tier defensive skills.
“What makes Syd special is her ability to do it all. She can bunt for a hit, hit a gap or hit a home run,” head coach Corey Mathis said. “On the bases, she is as good as they come. Defensively one of the best outfielders in that class.”
