Kentucky offers top-10 junior guard Jordan Smith

Kentucky offers top-10 junior guard Jordan Smith

Make that eight offers for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats in the class of 2026, the latest being a top-10 guard out of Virginia.

Jordan Smith, the No. 7 overall player and No. 3 shooting guard in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, picked up an offer from the UK staff on Monday.

“Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Kentucky,” the five-star announced earlier today.

The 6-foot-3 guard out of Fairfax (VA) Paul VI joins the likes of Brandon McCoyTyran StokesCaleb HoltJason Crowe Jr.Tajh Ariza, Miikka Muurinen and Tay Kinney to receive early offers from Kentucky in the 2026 class.

Smith helped USA Basketball win gold at the FIBA U17 World Cup this summer with the Kentucky coaching staff in attendance. And after a strong AAU season playing up on the 17U level for Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL Circuit, the Wildcats clearly see a fit with the two-way guard in Lexington, extending a scholarship going into his junior campaign.

What does he bring to the table that piqued Kentucky’s interest?

“I love defense, so I try to play the best defense I can each time I step on the floor,” Smith previously told On3. “You know defense wins championships.”

And what will he be looking for when it comes time to make a decision down the road?

“The culture of the school will be big for me,” he added. “I’ll look at how the coaches treat their players on and off the court. And I’ll look closely at the player development. Play style too will be big for me. I’m comfortable playing in a fast up-and-down system that stays active.”

The Wildcats appear to check some of those boxes on the surface. We’ll see where things go from here between the five-star guard and Kentucky now with an offer in hand.

Until then, check out some of his summer highlights:

Come on down.
